Gifted Gorgeousness - January Update

Hello everybody.

This year Jo from Seredipitous Stitching is organizing again the gifted Gorgeousness SAL, where basically you can present anything related with a gift. It can be a project you are doing for someone else, somthing with gifted fabric or thread, freebies (as they are gifted free by the author), etc. 

I satrted few projects this year and I am continue with some of the previous year and still I don't have any embroider project to show related with gift.

I am going to share with you a patchwork project I did just before Christmas for my little cat Luna. I wanted her to have a sock hanging in the fireplace together with mine. But obviously, she has paws and not feet and I thought that a human sock was something stupid for her. Actually, the socks they sell in the pet shops with goodies for cat have a paw shape.

I looked for one like that and I couldn't find it. I decided then to make one my self. I got some Christmas fabric I had from previous projects and pink felt. I cut a paw shape template and stitched it and then I glued cat pads made on pink felt.

The result was that.

I don't know if she likes or not, but I am very proud of it. Maybe is not the best sown project in the world, but it is very cute......

Gifted Gorgeousness 2019 - April Check In

The Gifted Gorgeousness SAL is hosted by Serendipitous Stitching.

I want to show my advance in my Hooties All Year Round. I missed last month check in as I didn’t finish any more owls but I have one more to show in April. Ok, it is not April’s one, I couldn’t do it as I was most of the time doing Easter decorations, but I can show the March’s one.

The owl representing March is dressed for Saint Patrick’s Day and it is holding a four leaves clover, which brings good luck to the person who find it. It is very cute, I like how they look like together with the other two and I hope to finish in the Easter break my April’s owl and show you next month together with May’s one.

Gifted Gorgeousness - February Update

The Gifted Gorgeousness SAL is hosted by Serendipitous Stitching.

As most of you know, I like stitching owls. The responsible of that is my mum, who is an owl collector with more than 250 owls in all the shapes, positions and format (figurine, magnet, soft toy, embroidery,...).

I got as a Christmas present the chart designed by Pinoy Stitch called “Hooties All Year Round Mini Collection #1”. The chart consists in an owl representing each month of the year. For that reason each owl is “wearing” something characteristic of the month he represents.

Because I got the chart as a present I decided to participate with it in the link party organized by Jo in Serendipitous Stitching called Gifted Gorgeousness 2019. To participate on that the condition is that what you present in the post must be related to a gift, a gift you received or a gift you are doing for someone else.

For this project I chose a 18 count white Aida fabric with magical guides. It is the first time I use this type of fabric; I will review it after using it and eliminate the guides. Threads are the called for one, DMC brand.

I finished the January owl, who is wearing a scarf as corresponds to the cold winter we are going through. I just realized that this owl has the beak red, as a consequence of the cold, I guess.

I wanted to catch up with this chart and I pressed myself to finish February’s owl before the end of the month.

As cannot be other way, February owl is an owl in love. I should say it is a female owl because of the long lashes she has and she is carrying a heart as well as she has many hearts around.

I am looking forward for March owl.

Gift Gorgeousness 2018 - August Update

Hello everybody!!!!! I am here again. 

I have been busy with other things and  didn't have time to update my flower collection, but it is going on. The last flower I showed you was the rose made in May. After that I finished three more flowers. In June I did a nice daisy. Petals are originally in white but I changed the colour to a very pale blue as in white they were really difficult to see in the fabric.

In July was the turn of an iris or lirium, I don't know exactly what it is. But I don't really care about the name. It is looking gorgeous in the collection.

The one I did this month can be a fuchsia but I have no idea if I am right or wrong. But again it looks very nice in the whole of the embroidery.

And I cannot go without showing ho is the full job going. Only four flowers are missing and I need to make the months' name and that will be over.

Gifted Gorgeousness April Update

 We are on the 15th again and with that day another flower is coming. As you should know by now, these flowers are part of a Coure e Batticuore design called Un anno di fiore (A year of flowers in english) and consists in stitch a flower every month representing that month. I am doing it to give to my mum as a present.

April’s flower is a pansy. There are pansies in so many different colours and this one is yellow and violet. I love that flower.

I use to have lots of pansies in my garden, all of them in different colours. These one are waiting to be transplanted.

And at that moment my job is as in the following picture.

Gifted Gorgeousness March Update

I finished other flower of the A Year of Flower project designed by Cuore e Batticuore. I am stitching if for my mum, as I told in my previous post.

I am not an expert on flowers and I am not sure about which flower I stitched this month. But I really don’t mind as the flower is beautiful and colourful.

And the overall of the project looks really nice.

Gifted Gorgeousness February Update

This is the first time I am going to participate in that SAL, mainly because not always I have something which can include the world “gift”.

But this year I have something. I had problems last year in finding an appropriate Christmas present for my mum and I decided that next time I will offer her something handmade by myself. My mum loves two things on top of all, owls and flowers. I thought at the beginning in doing something related with owls, but I discarded the idea as she already has more than 200 owls in different style (ceramic, stitched, knitted, etc). I saw then the patterns from Cuore e Baticuore called “A Year of Flowers” which consists stitching a flower representing each month of the year.

I decided to do a flower a month and I have finished now January and February’s ones (snowdrop and daffodil respectively). I still didn’t stitch the month name as I want to stitch it in Spanish (my mom doesn’t speak English).

I am sure she will like.
